Professional background and related information about Dino Baskovic
I am an organizational pathfinder, educator and communications practitioner with more than 20 years of professional experience. A programmer at work and play, I have counseled Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, small businesses and non-profits—nationally and globally—on successful management trends and techniques. My expertise spans the automotive, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare industries, as well as academic and philanthropic institutions.
Currently, I am a program director for the Wolverine Worldwide Family branch of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids (Michigan), where I am responsible for the Sports and the Arts & Humanities departments. In this role, I manage approximately 90 part-time and seasonal team members, in addition to 150-plus volunteers. In addition to functional oversight, I also cultivate local collaborations with community partners, as well as advocate for branch, association and national endeavors in line with the mission, vision and values of ‘The Y.’
As a freelance digital marketing consultant, I provide strategic and tactical support to a number of brands and marketing agencies in the areas of enterprise social media strategy, web systems, center-of-excellence design, management consulting and specialized training. Recent clients include the GRAMMY Music Education Coalition, U.S. Department of Energy, Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, Ohio Lottery Commission, Promega Corporation, Central Michigan University, Hawken Energy, AutoBike, Shefit Apparel, World Apostolate of Fatima, North Kent Connect, Detroit Medical Center, and Garden City Hospital. I also served in various agency assignments servicing Chevrolet national advertising and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Previously, I was the social media and online PR manager for Amway Corporation (Grand Rapids), where I developed a global blogging platform and social media standards in support of global sales and reputation, as well as Linux- and SharePoint-based intranet platforms. I also founded my own interactive agency, Vincena (Metro Detroit/Raleigh, N.C.), in 2001, and was a senior interactive consultant for Xpedior (Chicago) and new media producer for Weber Shandwick (Metro Detroit) early in my career. I advised on the design and development of Sears.com, and created enterprise web applications and content for clients including General Motors, Bank of America, Intelliprice, Dealer Concepts, Continental Teves, Guardian Industries, Zurich North American, Delphi Automotive and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
From 2014-2019, I served as an adjunct professor for the School of Communications at Grand Valley State University (Grand Rapids) where I taught “Technology in Public Relations and Advertising” and “Fundamentals of Public Relations.” Prior to GVSU, I was an adjunct for the graduate communication program at Lawrence Technological University (Metro Detroit), where I founded and taught LTU’s web design sequence from 2001-2008, and also taught corporate storytelling in 2012.
A native Clevelander and former Detroiter, I live with my wife and two daughters in Rockford, Michigan. Since 2013, I have coached youth soccer for The Y (see above) for U6-U14 teams. As of 2019, I am the new marketing trustee for the Rockford Education Foundation.
