Why listservs suck

This utterly defies logic:

Your unsubscription request has been forwarded to the list administrator for approval.

Worse is the guilty party: Society for Technical Communication's "Emerging Technology" Special Interest Group, a group I joined years ago and have long since ignored. Given that their website looks like -- check that, it was -- designed in FrontPage, I should probably demand back my ten bucks.
