Twenty-five years ago this week, the World Wide Web opens to the public, and Linux is first announced.
The Soviet Union, which would formally dissolve the day after Christmas that year, effectively fell apart this week as well.
Neither aforementioned event is connected.
But, looking back, the world became a more connected place in late August, 1991.
And, in many respects, even more disconnected.
Yet, here we are.
